Every student below made a wish list of three gifts. Pick a child and the gifts you'll buy. You can cover all three or just one or two, and the rest stay open for another sponsor. For some of these kids, it's the only present they'll open this year.
A public school in Newark for students ages 5 to 21 with autism and multiple disabilities. It's the school behind every wish list on this site.
The school gives each student an individualized, evidence-based education built around life skills, communication and social skills. Teachers use applied behavior analysis (ABA) and a curriculum designed for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
Older students take part in a school-to-work transition program. Its goal is to prepare them to live and work as independently as possible after graduation.
New Jersey voters approved a 1973 bond issue to build schools for children with severe disabilities, and the state created a group of Regional Day Schools. The Newark school opened in September 1983. Newark Public Schools has run it ever since.
Most families at the school are working hard to make ends meet, and holiday gifts are not a sure thing. Miracle on Centre matches each student's own wish list with a sponsor from our community. In 2024, our community fulfilled more than 70 wish lists. This year we're aiming to cover every student on the list.
